The (apartment) hunt continues

I started at 8:00 trying to call Mr. Crossley about the Finchley flat we saw Saturday. Got somebody at 9:00 and talked with Mr. Crossley about 10:20. We decided to look at another place in Wimbledon. First, we took tub to Bank and went to North Carolina National Bank. The money Reaves sent was there. The flat in Wimbledon was not too attractive. We returned to Elgin Crescent for lunch. Talked with Crossley again and decided to go ahead with Golders Green place, but that may be taken. So we decided to stay in Elgin Crescent for two more days. Susanna and I went to Mr. Francis’ office to arrange this. Then we went to the Alien Registration Center near the British Museum and found out we didn’t have to register. Saw, for a very short while, the jewelry exhibit in the British Museum and some of the early British archaeological items, including Sutton Hoo. We returned by bus (No. 7) for supper. Watched TV most of the evening.
